OMA Airports (Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte) manages 13 airports across Mexico, connecting over 26.5 million passengers annually. As part of the VINCI Airports network, OMA required a digital transformation that reflected its operational excellence and provided its teams with faster, more intuitive tools for passenger communication.
The Challenge: Tight Deadlines and a Need for Autonomy
OMA faced a critical deadline: the need to modernise its Flight Information Display System (FIDS) across its entire network before March 2025. Their goals were clear:
- Shift from vendor-managed to airport-managed operations to increase agility.
- Reduce reliance on external IT support for daily updates and maintenance.
- Ensure seamless training for on-ground staff in Spanish.
- Standardise communication across 13 diverse locations.
The Solution: VisionAir FIDS
OMA partnered with AirportLabs to implement VisionAir FIDS, a cloud-based, hardware-agnostic platform. Already proven within the VINCI network at London Gatwick and Guanacaste, VisionAir was selected for its flexibility and unique commercial model.
Key highlights of the solution included:
- Unlimited Screen Licensing: No per-screen fees, allowing OMA to scale cost-effectively.
- Rapid Deployment: The initial implementation in Chihuahua was achieved in just 40 days.
- Total Autonomy: An intuitive interface that allows airport teams to manage templates and layouts independently.
- Resilience: A system designed to maintain operations even during network interruptions.
"We wanted to be able to manage things ourselves, to move faster and feel in control." — Javier Morales, Ops Project Manager, OMA Airport

Results: 13 Airports, One Unified Platform
By the end of 2025, the rollout was successfully completed across the entire OMA portfolio. The transition has empowered OMA teams to deliver consistent, real-time passenger communication while significantly lowering operational overheads.
- Faster Updates: Teams now have full autonomy over their displays.
- Reduced Costs: The licensing model removed the financial barrier to adding new monitors.
- Improved Reliability: Significant reduction in incidents and downtime across the network.
- Scalable Success: The 40-day record deployment at Chihuahua Airport has set a new benchmark for fast, reliable airport system deployment.
"One of the most important elements is that we don't have to pay a licence for extra monitors. Our partners in the airport community are very happy with this approach." — Víctor Martín, Project Manager, VINCI Airports
